Vegetarian?

Ugh! what kinda weirdo doesn't eat meat or animal products? The same one that goes to university to play steelpan of all things.

For the past two years I've gradually cut down on the amount of meat I've been eating to the point where I no longer even purchase it. Initially I couldn't think past the (apparently) gaping hole on my plate where the meat kind was supposed to be but I'd still have no problem with dairy. The main incentive was to try and avoid hormone enhanced and GM foods.

Today though, I got a disgusting reminder that dairy (even apart from the hormones) may contain a certain amount of blood or pus from wounded udders. GROSS!! So no more dairy at all for me.

Jus don' call me ras.

One More

One more exam to go guys. As of Monday afternoon somewhere around 1:15pm I'll be officially finished with year two of the degree programme!! Yipeeee!!!!

It's been the hardest year so far, but also the most rewarding too.

Oh the joys of waking up at 4 and 5 am only to go to bed at 10pm, 11pm, 12am , 1am , 2 am. and do it all over again. Thank the Lord for giving me sound wisdom so I wouldn't think this pressure is for no reason. or solely aggravation. No no, pressure makes you stronger :-)

Next item on the agenda (as in currently working on) is getting a supervisor for my thesis. This semester some of my individual assignments just had to take a backseat to accommodate group assignments. I definitely cannot afford for that to happen come September.

Like a wise man said, "preparation is never wasted", and if I can complete the literature review before summer and God willing even get some interviews out of the way I can schedule the other unforseen events better. I know for certain Panorama not seeing me next year unless I just going in the grandstand. Talk about two months of pressure.

I have a concept in mind. I want to investigate how former students of the pan programme here have benefitted (or not) from the experience. What were their expectations before and after leaving and how have they changed (if they have).

I know I want to include some live video footage and interview transcripts in the material (Geez, this appendix looking like nuff already). How do I go about setting my sample though? Should I go by graduation year? stratify by gender? confine it to Trinidadian students? How much is it going to cost to call these ppl and set up interviews? You see whay I need to get my butt cracking from now?

Anyway, I should be posting more often. LOL Yeah, famous last words I know. But..yeah. That's all for now.

Pedestrians and Passengers, the upgrade

In an update on a post I made in 2007, the passengers have upgraded to booking lifetime tickets with an approximate journey date at the end of this year.

Lately it seems that I cannot but turn around without seeing another couple who have decided to make that particular lifetime commitmment. Though I am happy for them, I wonder how many persons are called to a life of spinsterhood/ bachelorhood.

Truly there is such a group. Not those who have missed out on the opportunity to become one flesh but those uniquely placed to maintain their single status. The difference has nothing whatsoever with finding that soulmate or special someone. The difference has everything to do with understanding yourself and your willingness to be steadfast until death.

Its a small difference and its a wise man who knows where he stands. As for me, well, maybe one day...
